The ADNAT has close to 600 members from all over the country and abroad, comprising of research scientists and scholars from universities, institutes, hospitals, nursing homes, forensic laboratories and corporate bodies.
The ADNAT holds a national convention every year with a two-day symposium and a 15-day residential training course on new DNA technologies. These annual conventions have gone a long way in fulfilling the objectives of the Association in terms of increasing awareness about new developments in the area, promoting the use of DNA technologies and in training researchers in new methods of molecular analysis. The ADNAT has drafted a detailed booklet on guidelines for DNA fingerprinting which National Accreditation Board released recently for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
The membership of the Association is open to those who subscribe and agree to the aims and objectives of the Association and desire so by submitting a formal application on the prescribed form.
A subscription of Rs.5000 is to be paid in one installment for life membership of the Association. Such members would have voting rights and would be eligible for election to various offices of the Association. However, students can pay the amount in two consecutive installments of Rs.2500. Subscription for foreign nationals from developing countries is US$ 200, and for those from developed countries it is US$ 500.
This category of membership would be open to research institutions, laboratories, social organizations, trusts, corporations, societies, etc., and would require a donation of Rs.10,000 on a one-time basis.
Men or women of distinction, residing in India or abroad, of any nationality, who have made outstanding contributions to the betterment of mankind through science or any other creative endeavor, may be elected to the Executive Committee.
